THE ART BENCHES OF PALM SPRINGS

What started as a collaboration between the Main Street Merchants of downtown Palm Springs and the Palm Springs Public Arts Commission, spearheaded by artist Tyson Knight, turned into an expanded program to have local artists repaint over 50 public benches throughout the city. The concrete benches were slated for replacement, and this program managed to save the considerable expense while promoting the work of artists in Palm Springs. Tom Dolle created a commemorative poster to promote the program and raise awareness of the scope of this project, and the work of the newly active Public Arts Commission.
