CANYON VIEW ESTATES SIGNAGE

Canyon View Estates is a prime example of the midcentury Palm Springs School of Architecture, with shadow block walls, clerestory windows, double-gabled "umbrella" roofs, open carports, and breeze-block details. Designed by famed architect William Krisel, it was built in phases from 1961–1967 by developer Roy Fey.

The community never had any signage (and the original sales literature lacked any strong identity), so I designed a set of monument signs that pulled its design from the homes themselves. The angled box with deep shadows interprets the rooflines, the block wall is common throughout the complex, and the light turquoise is a "pool blue" popular when this section was built in 1964. There are now two signs marking the entrances to this community.
